Summary

"Futures in Freedom. Female Voices for IntegrArte" is a project promoted by the Foundation for Justice to support women deprived of liberty in the Valencia Penitentiary Center (Picassent) through artistic creation as a means of empowerment, emotional expression, and personal transformation. The project stems from an evident need: the situation of women in prison, marked by structural inequalities, gender violence, mental health problems, and high levels of social exclusion, requires specific interventions focused on their experiences and strengthening their identity. Through creative methodologies such as Forum Theater, Theater of the Oppressed, and Systemic Theater, the project proposes a safe and participatory space where women can explore their bodies, their emotions, and their stories, breaking down communication barriers and promoting processes of resilience and solidarity.

The theatrical work carried out during the initial phases of the project serves as the basis for the creation of audio documentaries, intimate pieces in which participants transform their experiences into meaningful, audible narratives. This format allows for free and accessible expression, eliminating visual barriers and fostering the authenticity of the voices involved. Through play, experimentation, and collective construction, the women develop communication skills, confidence, teamwork, and critical reflection, while consolidating new ways of narrating themselves and the world. At all times, professional support guarantees a protected environment that each participant can feel at home, facilitating the rebuilding of positive emotional bonds and the recognition of their own creative capacity.

Beyond personal development, the project seeks to generate social impact by sharing these creations in cultural spaces, promoting active listening and breaking stereotypes surrounding women in prison. The entire process is built on the active participation of the women themselves, who choose the themes, design the scenes, and write the scripts. This fosters a shared reflection on the stigmas and conditions that affect their lives, while opening up new possibilities for expression, recognition, and reconstruction. Female Voices for IntegrArte not only creates art from within prison, but also transforms that art into a tool for freedom, awareness, and future possibilities.
