Summary
This project aims to highlight the struggles of neighborhood activists and human rights defenders in Paraguay in a context deeply marked by corruption, institutional violence, and impunity. Through collaboration with organizations such as the Citizen Comptroller's Office of Luque and the Federation of Neighborhood Entities of Paraguay, the intervention focuses on the key role played by organized citizens in the defense of civil rights, transparency, and social justice. In a country where corruption rates are alarming and human rights defenders suffer threats, harassment, and criminalization, it is urgent to build solidarity networks that strengthen their work and bring these realities closer to Valencian society.
The proposal seeks to build bridges between social organizations in Paraguay and the Valencian Community, generating spaces for dialogue, awareness-raising, and mutual learning. To this end, activities such as colloquia, workshops, discussion panels, visits by Paraguayan activists, and informational and audiovisual campaigns are being promoted to bring the serious human rights violations occurring in Paraguay to the attention of Valencian citizens. The project also encourages the creation of institutional alliances and public statements that reinforce international pressure in defense of human rights, especially given the lack of guarantees by the Paraguayan state.
Through these actions, we promote a global, critical, and committed citizenship that recognizes the importance of neighborhood activism as a driver of change and justice. Bringing visibility to little-known struggles, like the one in Paraguay, is a way to break the silence, build empathy, and add voices to a common cause: ensuring that no one is persecuted for defending the truth, demanding transparency, or protecting their community.
