From Foundation for Justice, we carried out awareness sessions that will take place on October 17, 18 and 19 in Valencia. A project that aims to raise awareness in society about the serious situation of violence, harassment and violation of rights faced by Guatemalan citizens in general, and in particular, justice operators in Guatemala.

The event is part of the project titled "Visibilization and defense of Human Rights activists by lawyers defending Human Rights in Guatemala," which has the financial support of the Second Vice Presidency and the Department of Social Services, Equality and Housing.

Among the scheduled activities, we will have the valuable participation of prominent activists and lawyers committed to the defense of Human Rights in Guatemala. One of the special guests is Ms. Jovita Tzul Tzul, a prominent Guatemalan lawyer and notary who is part of the Program to Fight Impunity of the Center for Legal Action on Human Rights (CALDH). Jovita and her team are dedicated to addressing cases related to serious violations of Human Rights, including those that arose during the armed conflict, the defense of the rights of indigenous peoples, cases of human rights violations against women and the criminalization of defenders. of human rights.

Another special guest is Mr. Edgar Orlando Putul Chub, a Guatemalan lawyer and notary who is part of the legal team of the Association of Mayan Lawyers and Notaries of Guatemala. Over the last few years, Edgar has played a crucial role in promoting human rights, focusing on the defense of the rights of indigenous peoples, justice and territory, as well as the protection of human rights defenders.

The programming promises to enrich and raise awareness of our understanding of the situation in Guatemala. On October 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a "South-North Participatory Colloquium against the criminalization of Justice operators in Guatemala" will be held at the ICAV location, Pl. de Tetuán, 16 , 46003 Valencia.

On October 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a session titled "Struggles and resistance of Human Rights lawyers in Guatemala in the face of threats to the impartiality of the judiciary" will be held at the CMRP. (Pl. del Forn de Sant Nicolau, 4, 46001 Valencia).

Finally, on October 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Fundación por la Justicia headquarters, we will have a "Exhibition of cases and development of strategies for the protection of the right to Defense." In addition, the possibility of attending virtually will be offered through the Zoom platform, the link of which will be sent to registered people 24 hours in advance.
