The Humans Lab, the audiovisual creation laboratory launched by the Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival, Humans Fest, organized by Fundación por la Justicia since 2009, celebrates its first edition this week. Specifically, from Friday, December 1 to Sunday, December 3, when it will also host two master classes open to the public: one given by the director Estíbaliz Urresola and another, by the consultant Salima Jirari.

THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN WITH TWO REFERENCES

Urresola released his first fiction feature film this year, 20,000 species of bees, which won the Silver Bear for Best Performance for Sofía Otero, the Audience Award and the German Exhibitors Award at the Berlinale. Patricia López Arnaiz also won the Golden Biznaga for Best Film and the Silver Biznaga for Best Supporting Actress at the Malaga Film Festival. Furthermore, it has been chosen as candidate to represent Spain at the Oscars 2024. The director will offer her masterclass on Friday December 1st, at 17 hours, in it La Beneficència Cultural Center.

For its part, Jirari, specialized in diversity of audiovisual projects, has been working for more than ten years in different areas of the film sector, such as distribution or production. He collaborates with various programs, companies and universities, advising projects in development and giving sessions on unconscious biases in the creative process. The consultant will offer her masterclass on Saturday December 2, at 11 hours, Also in the La Beneficència Cultural Center.

INTENSIVE MENTORING FOR FOUR FILM PROJECTS

The objective of Humans Lab is to promote the writing of film scripts on human rights, as well as to support authors through training activities. To do this, it is proposed as a mentoring session lasting three days, so that four projects Enjoy personalized advice from professionals in the audiovisual field.

Specifically, among the applications presented, the proposals for Honorato Ruiz, Claudia Estrada, Coke Arijo e Iván Fernández de Córdoba, who, in addition to the master classes, will have two tutored sessions one-to-one with Urresola and Jirari, respectively, as well as a group session of preparation to pitch from the hand of the Valencian director Fran Ruvira and, as a final touch, to make a presentation to different production companies in the Valencian Community.
