Laboratory for the development of audiovisual projects in the field of HRDs
The Foundation for Justice and the International Festival of Film and Human Rights, HUMANS FEST, are calling for the second edition of their workshop for the creation of audiovisual projects on human rights.
- GOALS
The activity is aimed at professionals and students with the aim of promoting scriptwriting from a human rights perspective, promoting creation and providing support to authors in the creation process through masterclasses and personalized tutoring.
2. PARTICIPANTS
The call is open to people of legal age, of any nationality, who can prove their studies or experience related to cinema and/or audiovisual creation.
Five projects will be chosen, of which at least two must originate from the Valencian Community.PROJECTS
Eligible projects are projects of format Short fiction/documentary/animation/experimental film (hybrid projects are accepted) in the field of human rights defence and in the script phase.
3. REGISTRATION
Those interested in participating must present their short film script writing projects with a human rights perspective, by sole authorship or in collaboration with other authors, in Spanish or Valencian.
The script must be original and unpublished, meaning it must not have been adapted for the screen at the time of submission. Works that have already competed in previous editions cannot be submitted. Up to two works per author will be accepted.
Registration can be done through the ONLINE FORM available on the HUMANS FEST website (www.humansfest.com), providing the required information and materials.
- MATERIAL: Mandatory synopsis, plus a script (preferred) and/or an explanatory report and/or a plot synopsis. Optionally, any additional material considered necessary can be added to the form (technical sheet, budget, dossiers, etc.)
Projects can be submitted by the director, screenwriter, and/or producer of them.
The deadline for registration is November 10, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CEST (inclusive).
4. PROJECT SELECTION
Fundación por la Justicia and HUMANS FEST, with the support of a committee of experts, will select 5 projects that will participate in the masterclasses and tutorials, which will take place in the city of Valencia.
The finalists will be contacted personally and the list will be published on the website and social media of Fundación por la Justicia and HUMANS FEST.
Fundación por la Justicia and HUMANS FEST will cover the accommodation and half-board costs of participants who are not residents of Valencia during the days of the workshop, for a maximum of one participant per project, with the possibility of opting for a 100 euro grant for travel expenses.
The deadline for notification of selected projects is November 28 (inclusive).
5. PRIZE
Of the 5 finalist projects that will participate in the entire training, one will be selected and will receive a financial endowment of €500 (tax included) to support and accompany the development and production process of the project. The members of the jury, made up of producers and/or professionals from the audiovisual industry, will evaluate: the originality of the script, the presence of the defense of human rights and the viability of the production of the project.
The prize will go to the project's screenwriter, who assumes the responsibility of owning the rights to the script.
6. DEVELOPMENT OF LABORATORY ACTIVITIES
The laboratory will take place during the weekend of Friday, December 12 to Sunday, December 14. The following activities are planned over the 3 days:
- 2 master classes on aspects of creation, script analysis and/or production focused on human rights.
- 2 sessions one-to-one with the selected projects.
- A group session of the projects in preparation to the pitch.
- The laboratory will end with a session of pitch open to CCVV producers.
7. CREDIT TITLES
If any of the selected projects participating in HUMANS LAB are produced, the authors agree that the production company will include the program logo in the credits. The logo will be provided by the organization in various formats and resolutions.
8. COMMITMENT OF THE PARTICIPANTS
Participation in HUMANS LAB implies full acceptance of these rules and commitment to attend the dates of the activities.
9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
The projects presented, as far as their authorship is concerned, will be the property of their authors, and they will be responsible, before third parties, for any claim that may arise from them, releasing Fundación por la Justicia and HUMANS FEST from any responsibility to this effect.
