In the VIII edition of the Humans Fest, the now traditional section «1 minute, one right".

This year we have a new ally to raise public awareness about human rights with a series of short films that have very special directors behind the camera. From February 10 to 16, the Cinestudio d'Or will screen the microfilms of this branch so appreciated by the festival between the screenings of its continuous double sessions. With this new headquarters, Humans Fest continues to grow and reach out to new audiences.

What can we see in this section?

Twenty short films that in just 60 seconds tell us about some of the human rights included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The public will see proposals that try to dignify the victims or encourage debate about a situation of lack of protection with different styles, approaches and types of narration but always in 1 minute in length.

Who directs?

We have programmed short films that have been made mostly collectively in schools, prisons o Training centers such as the Sahara Film School or the EASD and the Juan Comenius Institute of Valencia. We also have some professional proposals among these one-minute capsules.

This section is born from the audiovisual literacy workshops carried out by the Foundation for Justice, the main promoter of the festival, in schools, prisons and other centers that work with people at risk of social exclusion.

With the creation of the Humans Fest festival, the foundation decides to call an international competition and invites other schools and vulnerable groups, as well as universities and training schools from around the world to work along the same lines. In fact, there is a teaching guide available to all interested entities for raising awareness of human rights through cinema.

The public is the jury

Viewers will decide with their vote which is, from their point of view, the best short in the section with a ballot that the festival will make available to them.

The awards

Two prizes will be awarded:

  • Award for the best short film made by schools and vulnerable groups
  • Award for the best short film made by university centers

The call is open but the objective of the section is to reward the work of these groups. Each award has a financial prize of 250 euros.
