One day in April, 27 years ago, Iqbal Masih died in Pakistan, a 12-year-old boy murdered by the mafias of the carpet business to whom he had been sold by his own father in exchange for a loan.
Enslaved for six years, forced to work tied to the loom for more than 12 hours a day, at the age of ten he decided to denounce the working conditions in which he found himself, like many other minors.
He became a leading activist against child exploitation and an increasingly uncomfortable character, until a gunshot ended his life. That is why every April 16th is commemorated International Day against Child Slavery.
Our Project Director Claudia analyzes in this beautiful article for the Levante EMV this scourge that is child slavery and from which we have not yet gotten rid of. One of our objectives at Fundación por la Justicia.
