The València International Film and Human Rights Festival, organised by Fundación por la Justicia, will be held from 30 May to 8 June.
The registration period for the official sections will remain open until 1 March.
The fight against climate change and the defence of the territory together with the environment will be at the heart of the XV edition from Humans Festthe València International Film and Human Rights Festival organised by Fundación por la Justicia. The aim is to contribute to generating new imaginaries of the relationship between people and nature, as well as to continue to promote the independent cinema that entertains, raises awareness and provides spaces for reflection on social issues.
"We are living through a climate emergency which entails the rights violations on a global scale. We cannot remain indifferent to this. What's more: from Humans Fest we want to do our bit to promote a ecosocial transformationunderstanding that we have to be responsible on a planet with limited resources, that our survival depends on taking good care of our natural environment and that there are alternatives to the capitalist development that has brought us to the current situation", explains Majo Siscar, director of the festival.
"We want to join the efforts that València has done to be recognised as European Green Capital 2024. We have been proving since 2008, when we launched this festival, that film is a powerful tool for advocacy, denunciation and debate. We are certain that we will manage to mobilise a large part of Valencian society once again this year around Humans Fest to strengthen its commitment to the fight against climate change," says José María Tomás y Tío, president of Fundación por la Justicia.
Humans Fest has also announced that it will be holding its 15th edition. Thursday 30 May to Saturday 8 June The ten-day event will not only screen a selection of films and documentaries in different venues throughout the city, but will also include other complementary activities, such as human rights forums, workshops and exhibitions.

Humans Fest distinguishes again four categories in its 15th edition: Humans Ficfor the best international feature and short fiction films; Humans Docfor the best feature and short documentary films; Curt i Barrejatfor Valencian short films dealing with human rights in documentary or fiction genre; and 1 minute, 1 rightfor micro-films made by students.
The festival has already published the basics registration form to participate in these official sectionswhich can be consulted at the website www.humansfest.com and on the specialised platform Festhome. On this occasion, the deadline will remain open until Friday 1 March 2024 with the exception of 1 minute, 1 rightThe deadline for entries has been extended to Sunday 5 May. This year, with the intention of helping cultural creation, the financial award has been increased for all categories.
In addition, as in previous editions, the awarding of a honorary prize to an outstanding person for his or her career in the defence of human rights from the audiovisual world, as well as other recognitions without financial remuneration, such as the case of the EDAV AwardThe Valencian Audiovisual Writers' Association (Associació d'Escriptors de l'Audiovisual Valencià), for the best short film script in Valencian.
Humans Fest is part of the international Human Rights Film Network. Its 15th edition is held thanks to the collaboration of Conselleria de Cooperació, Diputació de València, Ajuntament de València, Institut Valencià de Cultura, Caixa Popular and Teika.
