Fundación por la Justicia and ONCE have agreed to work together to demand the full inclusion of people with disabilities, as well as to guarantee their accessibility to culture in all the projects they develop in the future. The first specification is made for the next International Film and Human Rights Festival of Valencia, Humans Fest, which Fundación por la Justicia has been celebrating since 2009.

The collaboration agreement has been signed by Enrique Llin Ruiz, president of the Territorial Council of ONCE in the Valencian Community, and José María Tomás y Tío, president of Fundación por la Justicia. “We are very happy to have a leading organization at the state level for its work in defending personal autonomy and the full inclusion of blind people. We will carry out all the actions that are necessary and within our reach to ensure that this is the case within the framework of the festival,” stated Tomás y Tío.

For his part, Enrique Llin, has pointed out that “for blind people it is very important to be able to personally access all artistic manifestations, cinema is no exception, which is why we are very excited about the initiative of the Foundation for Justice and their willingness to work for the accessibility of the Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival, Humans Fest, for which we are willing to lend our full collaboration.”

In this way, Humans Fest reaffirms the idea that both enjoyment and participation in culture are a fundamental right. For this reason, the Festival is committed to ensuring physical adaptations for people with reduced mobility in the different spaces of the city where screenings or activities are held.

In addition, Humans Fest will progressively implement films with audio description systems in its programming, that is, adapted for people with visual disabilities. And it will also include sign language interpretation and magnetic loop activities in its multiple parallel events.

For its part, ONCE will from now on participate in all the actions of the Humans Fest and the cultural activities of the Fundación por la Justicia that allow disability to be minimized. Likewise, it will contribute to the dissemination of the Festival to expand its reach, especially among blind people and people with other disabilities.
