Many thanks to the more than 120 participants in the Festival but after a difficult selection process, the VI Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival has selected the following documentaries:
Parallel to the official section, the short film section, “1 minute, 1 right” is presented, which will exhibit a selection of the best pieces received. Animated films will also have their own space with titles linked to human rights. The festival program includes a series of activities and workshops that will complement the screenings, debates or concerts around Human Rights, both at the official headquarters of La Filmoteca and at the IVAM or the Picassent Penitentiary Center.
The Festival also has an international dimension, since it has sub-venues in cities such as Salamanca, Sao Paulo, El Salvador, Lima and San José among others, in order to promote the creation of audiovisuals with social themes. This proposal, unique in the city of Valencia, is characterized by its humility, commitment to civil society and Human Rights and by the enthusiasm of all those who in some way are part of this project. We want all viewers to witness the reality that surrounds us, creating sensations in viewers that promote individual action.
The Festival is an initiative of the Foundation for Justice, whose objective is to raise awareness of Human Rights through art and culture. The festival's aim is to bring more reflective and committed cinema to society, and to achieve this we are committed to a selection of films framed within the documentary genre, proposing a realistic, first-person look at the different topics covered: Rights of the women, the right to decent housing, social economy, integration of people with disabilities or immigration among others.
