THE HISTORYDocumentary that is placed in the line of fire directly in front of two powerful forces. On one side is President Alan García, who, eager to enter the world stage, aggressively begins the extraction of oil, minerals and gas from the indigenous Amazonian land that had remained intact; while on the other hand, the indigenous Alberto Pizango leads a strong opposition due to the demands of his followers that were ignored. Eventually, the tense war of words erupts into protests and clashes between both sides, escalating to deadly violence. |

DIRECTORSHeidi Brandenburg is a passionate observer of human nature and the environment. Co-founded Yachaywasi Films with Mathew Orzel to address social and environmental issues and challenge audiences to rethink preconceptions. He was born in Paraguay, although he grew up in Peru and Germany; and currently lives in Washington, DC. Mathew Orzel is a documentary filmmaker and visual artist whose work focuses on the complexities of human relationships. He has worked as a sound designer, editor and director on the short film.
