Jury Presidents

Montxo Armendáriz and Puy Oria

montxo armendariz puy oriaWinners of the Pau i Justicia Award at the 2016 edition of the festival, both lead the independent production company Oria Films. Montxo Armendáriz is a film director, screenwriter and winner of two Goya awards for best adapted screenplay and best original screenplay. Puy Oria is a producer and has participated in feature films such as Obaba (2005), Silencio roto (2001) and Don't be afraid (2011).

Journalist, blogger and writer. Reference for national columnism thanks to “El Fémur de Eva”, a column reinvented in the form of a blog, later converted into a book of essays, and also a radio program on Valencia Radio. Activist for the rights especially of women around the world.

 

Ricardo MaciánRicardo Macián

Documentary maker, reporter, director of photography. Photojournalist in the Balkans, Palestine, Somalia, among others. Director and screenwriter of independent documentary and fiction projects. Among the most notable: “Los Ojos de Ariana” (about Afghan Films), with awards at different festivals. He is currently developing a feature-length documentary about the figure of Carceller, the editor of the transgressive weekly La Traca, shot along with the cartoonist Bluff on the Paterna wall in 1940.

CarlosMadridCarlos Madrid

He studies advertising, public relations and communication, combining his time at different cultural magazines (Milk, DJMAG) with work at the Observatori Festival as Communication Director. He has recently been appointed Director of the Valencia International Film Festival – Cinema Jove after 8 years at the head of La Cabina – Medium Film Festival.

NANGUAN MANZAM JURADO CORTOSNanguan Manzam

Born in Equatorial Guinea, Nanguan came to complete her studies in Spain and settled in Valencia, where she works as a social technician in social awareness and political advocacy at the Spanish Committee for Refugee Assistance (CEAR). She is also a short story writer and has just published her second book, “Biyaare”, stories about gender, identity and immigration.”



GIOVANNA RIBES CORTOSGiovanna Ribes

Valencian director, producer and screenwriter. His first feature-length fiction film “Un Suave Olor a canela” was released in 2014. In 2017 the premiere of his second feature-length fiction “La Familia: Dementia” is expected. She is a founding member of DONESenART and directs the Dona i Cinema International Festival, which makes the work of women filmmakers visible.
