SHORT FILM BASES
INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION ON THE RIGHT OF ASYLUM AND REFUGEES.
VIIIth Valencia International Documentary Film and Human Rights Festival.
The Foundation for Justice, an organization dedicated to the defense of Human Rights, announces the INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION ON THE RIGHT OF ASYLUM AND REFUGEES, within the framework of the VIIIth Valencia International Documentary Film and Human Rights Festival, which will take place at the city of Valencia (Spain), from February 10 to 17, 2017.
The contest is competitive and awards a prize of 500 euros to the best short film, according to the following rules of the call:
1.- Individual or collective filmmakers who wish to do so may compete.
2.- Works may be submitted until November 15, 2016.
3.- The works must be original and deal with the issue of refugee rights and asylum rights.
4.- Short films must have a duration of up to 30 minutes.
5.- The works presented must be made as of January 1, 2015. The organization reserves the right to invite, on an exceptional basis, any short film presented, whose year of production is prior to the aforementioned date.
6.- If the works are accompanied by music, the authors will be responsible for the music used.
7.- The works must be presented in the original version, subtitled in Spanish or English, if they are made in another language.
8.- To participate, interested parties must send the registration form to the email address press@humansfest.com, or indicating in the subject Registration_shorts_title_of_short. The registration form will include the complete technical sheet, synopsis, and the link to view the short. If this link is private, the corresponding key will also be indicated. And two high-resolution images of the short will also be attached. You can register through the web channel www.festival.movibeta.com.
9.- If the short film is selected, the person who registered will be notified and will be informed of the instructions for sending the screening copy.
10.- The Festival will inform you later if the short film was not selected.
11.- The festival will hold traveling exhibitions of the selected short films, in Spain and internationally, for which it will expressly request the permission of the author or whoever holds the exhibition rights. Acceptance of the rules does not imply, therefore, authorization to exhibit the short films in the festival's traveling exhibitions.
12.- The Selection Committee will be made up of members of the festival and experts in the film genre, who will carry out their work according to the quality and creativity parameters previously established by the Festival Management.
13.- Any expenses generated by the shipping of the materials will be borne by the selected person. The festival is not responsible for any damage suffered by said materials during transport.
14.- The organization of the festival assumes that the producers or directors who register through this call have the rights to exhibit the works they present, exempting the festival from any civil or criminal liability.
15.- The jury will be made up of renowned personalities from the audiovisual media, culture and volunteering. Its members will be announced in due course before the festival takes place.
16.- The jury's decision is final.
The winner of the contest will be announced at the Closing Gala of the VIII Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival.
17.- The presentation of the works implies full acceptance of these rules and the interpretation and application of them corresponds to the organizers of the festival.
