Humans Fest Aquarius

The Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival, Humans Fest, organized by Fundación por la Justicia, has included in its programming this year a screening and a colloquium on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the arrival of Aquarius to the city's port, which happened on June 17, 2018. Thus, this activity has just been planned for tomorrow, Friday, at 6:30 p.m., at the Rector Peset Residence Hall.

VISION AND REFLECT WITH HUMANS FEST

Specifically, it will project Libya: hell with no exit, a documentary about the situation of thousands of people held in detention centers in Libya, where harassment is constant and the militia plays an interested role in human trafficking. In fact, today thousands of refugees live there in inhumane conditions.

Your director, Sara Crete, will be present and will participate in a subsequent colloquium to which he will join Moses Von Kallon, representative of the association Aquarius survivors. Moderated by Mila Font, delegate of Doctors Without Borders in Valencia, the meeting will reflect on current events in the Mediterranean and the effects of European migration policies.

REMEMBERING “HOPE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN”

It is worth remembering that the rescue ship Aquarius, of the NGOs SOS Méditerranée and Doctors Without Borders, arrived in Valencia with more than 600 migrants rescued in Libyan waters after the refusal of the Maltese and Italian authorities. This humanitarian aid operation was called "Hope of the Mediterranean." Both the screening and the colloquium are free to attend.

The Humans Fest festival, organized by Fundación por la Justicia since 2009, is celebrating its 13th edition thanks to the support of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Valencia City Council, the Valencian Provincial Council and Caixa Popular; in addition to the collaboration of more than 30 organizations and entities; as well as a large team of volunteers. À Punt, the Valencian regional radio and television station, is the official media of the festival.
