On October 30, a workshop on compassion, abstract thinking and creative problem solving will also be held around the Icelandic film “Concoction. The story of 8 artists.” The short film directed by Iris Stefania tells the story of eight artists who have collaborated in pairs, in which there is a person with a disability. Each of the couples created a piece for an exhibition and auction held at the Reykjavik Art Museum, Kjarvalsstadir. According to the director, the auction reached a very small number of people, so making a documentary was a way to spread the message further, whose objective is none other than “closing the gap between communities and supporting a equitable and just society.”
The workshop that will be held will be led by the director of the documentary, and will try to reflect on the fact that differences are not an obstacle. As Iris states, “if we learn to live with social diversity, it is important to acquire skills to know how to treat everyone with respect.” Attendees will be able to do short exercises to put creative thinking and abstraction into practice as ways to develop compassion and tolerance.
