The registration period will remain open until Sunday, November 19, using a form available on the Humans Fest website.<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n

The Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival, <\/span>Humans Fest<\/b>, organized by Fundaci\u00f3n por la Justicia since 2009, has launched its <\/span>first audiovisual creation laboratory<\/b>: <\/span>Humans Lab<\/b>. This initiative was born with the aim of promoting the writing of film scripts on human rights, as well as supporting authors through training activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

So much <\/span>professionals <\/b>as <\/span>students <\/b>residents in the Valencian Community can participate in the call, whose <\/span>inscription <\/b>will remain open <\/span>until November 19<\/b>. Eligible projects can be <\/span>short films of any genre<\/b> (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental or hybrid) and must be presented by its director, scriptwriter and\/or producer through the <\/span>form enabled on the Humans Fest website itself<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

THREE DAYS OF MASTER CLASSES, TUTORING AND PITCH SESSIONS<\/b><\/p>\n

The Humans Lab will be held in Valencia from Friday December 1st to Sunday December 3rd, when selected people will be able to enjoy two <\/span>master classes<\/b> (which will also be open to the general public), two <\/span>tutored sessions<\/b> one-to-one<\/i><\/b> about their projects and a group session <\/span>preparation to <\/b>pitch<\/i><\/b> to, as a final touch, make a presentation to different production companies in the Valencian Community. All of this taught by professionals in the audiovisual field.<\/span><\/p>\n

EST\u00cdBALIZ URRESOLA AND SALIMA JIRARI, FIRST MENTORS OF THE HUMANS LAB<\/b><\/p>\n

Specifically, this first edition of Humans Lab will have two mentors: the director <\/span>Est\u00edbaliz Urresola<\/b> and the consultant <\/span>Salima Jirari<\/b>, who will be in charge of the <\/span>masterclasses <\/span><\/i>(Friday, December 1 in the afternoon and Saturday, December 2 in the morning, respectively), as well as the sessions <\/span>one-to-one<\/span><\/i> about the selected works.<\/span><\/p>\n

Est\u00edbaliz Urresola<\/b> He has directed titles such as <\/span>Adrian<\/span><\/i>; <\/span>Dust we are<\/span><\/i>; either <\/span>ropes<\/span><\/i>,<\/span> premiered at Cannes Critics' Week 2022, Forqu\u00e9 Award for best short film and nominated for the 2023 Goya Awards. <\/span>first fiction feature film, <\/b>20,000 species of bees<\/i><\/b>,<\/span><\/i> It premiered in the Official Section of the Berlinale and won the Silver Bear for Best Performance for Sof\u00eda Otero, the Audience Award and the German Exhibitors Award. Patricia L\u00f3pez Arnaiz also won the Golden Biznaga for Best Film and the Silver Biznaga for Best Supporting Actress at the Malaga Film Festival. Furthermore, it has been chosen as <\/span>candidate to represent Spain at the Oscars 2024<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

For its part, <\/span>Salima Jirari <\/b>is a consultant specialized in a variety of audiovisual projects. He collaborates with various programs, companies and universities, advising projects in development and giving sessions on unconscious biases in the creative process. With <\/span>more than ten years of experience<\/b>, has worked in different areas of the film sector, such as distribution or production. Jirari is a professional who advocates <\/span>culture and cinema as tools of critical thinking and social change<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

ABOUT HUMANS FEST AND HUMANS LAB<\/b><\/p>\n

Humans Fest is one of the main activities promoted by the Foundation for Justice with the aim of defending human rights and denouncing their violations around the world through cinema, a powerful tool and power to raise awareness. It is part of the international Human Rights Film Network.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its 14th edition (2023), in which the Humans Lab is part of, is celebrated thanks to the collaboration of the Conselleria de Cooperaci\u00f3, Diputaci\u00f3 de Val\u00e8ncia, Ajuntament de Val\u00e8ncia, Institut Valenci\u00e0 de Cultura, Caixa Popular and Teika. For its part, the Valencian regional radio and television station \u00c0 Punt has been the official media of the festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the Humans Lab initiative also has the support of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Su <\/span>primer largometraje de ficci\u00f3n, <\/b>20.000 especies de abejas<\/i><\/b>,<\/span><\/i> fue estrenado en la Secci\u00f3n Oficial de la Berlinale y se alz\u00f3 con el Oso de Plata a Mejor Interpretaci\u00f3n para Sof\u00eda Otero, el Premio del P\u00fablico y el Premio de los Exhibidores Alemanes. Tambi\u00e9n gan\u00f3 la Biznaga de Oro a Mejor Pel\u00edcula y Biznaga de Plata a Mejor Actriz de Reparto, Patricia L\u00f3pez Arnaiz, en el Festival de Cine de M\u00e1laga. Adem\u00e1s, ha sido elegida como <\/span>candidata a representar a Espa\u00f1a en los Oscar 2024<\/b>.<\/span>\r\n\r\nPor su parte, <\/span>Salima Jirari <\/b>es consultora especializada en diversidad de proyectos audiovisuales. Colabora con varios programas, empresas y universidades asesorando proyectos en desarrollo e impartiendo sesiones sobre los sesgos inconscientes en el proceso creativo. Con <\/span>m\u00e1s de diez a\u00f1os de experiencia<\/b>, ha trabajado en diferentes \u00e1reas del sector cinematogr\u00e1fico, como la distribuci\u00f3n o la producci\u00f3n. Jirari es una profesional que aboga por <\/span>la cultura y el cine como herramientas de pensamiento cr\u00edtico y cambio social<\/b>.<\/span>\r\n\r\nSOBRE HUMANS FEST Y HUMANS LAB<\/b>\r\n\r\nHumans Fest es una de las principales actividades impulsadas por la Fundaci\u00f3n por la Justicia con el objetivo de defender los derechos humanos y denunciar sus vulneraciones en todo el mundo a trav\u00e9s del cine, una herramienta de gran alcance y poder de sensibilizaci\u00f3n.
