On the occasion of our project \u201cINCREASE IN CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN ACHIEVING THE SDGS THROUGH APPROPRIATION OF THE 2030 AGENDA\u201d<\/strong> In the month of November we have started an inter-university training course with an e-learning modality aimed at the university community with the purpose of covering the dynamics of economic, political, cultural and environmental interrelation at a global level, gender inequality and other forms of discrimination , as well as citizen participation and the exercise of global citizenship from an ethical point of view.<\/p>\n

To achieve this objective, we have had expert professionals in the field from different universities: the UJI, the UV and the UPV.<\/p>\n

Previously, at the beginning of the training course, from Fundaci\u00f3n por la Justicia we carried out a survey focused on the university community of the Valencian Community to measure the level of knowledge of the student body in relation to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.<\/strong> The UN action plan is universal in scope, entrusting countries around the world to make an effort to contribute to the achievement of the 17 goals.<\/p>\n

From this survey we can deduce that 86% has heard mention of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs compared to 14% who has not.<\/p>\n

After assessing the students' knowledge, we have determined that only 25% knows the motto of the agenda: \u201cLeave no one behind\u201d<\/strong>. This motto implies that, with this plan, the aim is to reach the poorest people while combating discrimination and inequalities between countries. On the other hand, the vast majority of students knew the number of SDGs, these being 17, and to whom they are directed (to all countries, public administrations, private sector...). Furthermore, a high number of students understand that the SDGs are related to all Human Rights in a transversal way.<\/p>\n

The importance of the 2030 Agenda revolves around ending poverty by 2030 while promoting global economic prosperity, social development and environmental protection in all countries.<\/p>\n

The 95% of the student body considers that this Agenda is essential to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals,<\/strong> since it puts the dignity and equality of people as a priority.<\/p>\n

Despite the large number of initiatives to promote the SDGs in the main universities of the Valencian Community, 2 out of 3 students declare that they are not aware of them.<\/p>\n
