The event took place on the night of Saturday, June 18 at the MuVIM, where nearly 200 people from the cultural and social sphere gathered to accompany the presentation of the awards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ABOUT THE WINNERS IN FEATURE FILMS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Mijke De Jong<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, of Dutch origin, has been awarded multiple awards as a director, screenwriter and producer. She has more than 20 films on her resume and is especially known for films like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bluebird <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2004), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friar <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2014), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Layla M.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2016) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God Only Knows<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2019). In Humans Fest he has participated with <\/span><b><i>Along the way<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which tells the story of two 19-year-old Afghan sisters who lose their family on the border between Turkey and Iran and, from there, face tough decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI wanted to portray their story as migrants, but also as young people simply, with their aspirations and their doubts, as we all have been, so that we can identify with them and empathize better,\u201d explains De Jong, who has not been able to be present tonight because she is immersed in a casting process for her next job.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specifically, the jury in this category has highlighted De Jong&#039;s proposal \u201cfor its narrative structure, which combines documentary elements with a fictional story; by the construction of characters, played by non-professional actors and actresses who, in many cases, recreate situations that they have personally experienced; and for the values it transmits, related to the critical situation that the migrant population is going through.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For its part, <\/span><b>Roser Corella<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who currently resides in Berlin, was also unable to attend due to work reasons. She began her career as a journalist for Catalan television, but her interest in the human stories behind global problems prompted her to self-produce in the documentary field, where she has excelled. In fact, their works <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">machine man<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2011), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prisoners of Kanun<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2014) or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grab and run<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2017) have been screened around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At Humans Fest, Roser Corella has projected <\/span><b><i>Room without a view<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a documentary that addresses the slavery of foreign domestic workers in Lebanon, a situation that highlights how capitalism intersects with gender, class, and people&#039;s origins. \u201cI would like to thank the festival for creating a space for debate around the working conditions of domestic and care workers not only in Lebanon, but also in Spain,\u201d says the director.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6316\" style=\"width: 595px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6316\" class=\"wp-image-6316\" src=\"https:\/\/fundacionporlajusticia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/HUMANS-FEST-CIERRE-2022-02-Majo-Siscar-y-Roser-Corella.jpeg\" alt=\"Humans Fest Roser Corella\" width=\"585\" height=\"565\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6316\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Majo Siscar, director of Humans Fest, together with Roser Corella during her visit to Valencia<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b>OFFICIAL SHORT FILM SECTION<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The award to <\/span><b>Best Fiction Short Film<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has fallen into <\/span><b><i>All nights<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, directed by <\/span><b>Latifa Said<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Addressing the complex universe of migrations from a feminine perspective, delving into the conflicts of migrant women who are forced to practice prostitution and incorporating the difficulty of conciliation have been determining aspects for the jury.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <\/span><b><i>Mirages<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Alfonso Palaz\u00f3n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has been the <\/span><b>Best Documentary Short Film<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This is a work that collects the testimony of several refugees, who talk about their situation, their unfulfilled projects and their dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>RECOGNITIONS IN VALENCIAN KEY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Official Section of Humans Fest includes two awards for Valencian creations. Thus, the award to <\/span><b>Best Valencian Short Film<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been awarded to <\/span><b><i>Ecoutez-Moi<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Paula Armijo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cfor the intensity of a real testimony that demonstrates the hardness that many women live in the shadows, without future or present, without hope; and for all those abused and mistreated,\u201d in the words of the jury. For his part, the <\/span><b>Best Valencian Short Film Script<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been for <\/span><b><i>Table for 3<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Alvaro G. Company<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>Meka Ribera<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a work that denounces human selfishness and the poor distribution of resources through satire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THE RECOGNITION OF THE YOUNGEST TALENT<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traditionally, Humans Fest has had the \u201c1 minute, 1 right\u201d section. Given that the thematic axis of 2022 has been migrations and refuge, the festival organization has proposed the category \u201c1 minute, 1 border\u201d, in which the students of Comenius Center Educatiu have participated. Among all the proposals received, which have been screened before each Official Section showing, the festival public has decided by popular vote that the award goes to <\/span><b><i>white lies<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Mario Lled\u00f3 Climent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SPECIAL MENTIONS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, three works from different categories have received special mentions. This has been the case of the Valencian short film <\/span><b><i>The whore&#039;s chair<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, by Mar Navarro, \u201cfor the staging, the complexity of the theme and the sisterhood between women in an environment hostile to themselves\u201d; the fiction short film <\/span><b><i>Casablanca to return<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, by Pedro Sara, \u201cfor offering an integrative message about relationships between people regardless of their origin\u201d; and the documentary feature film <\/span><b><i>Parallel 35\u00ba 50&#039;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, by Sergio Rodrigo Ruiz, \u201cto remind us that the Spanish government must ensure compliance with Human Rights and international asylum and refuge standards.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>jury <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the 13th edition of Humans Fest has been made up of <\/span><b>20 professionals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the cinematographic and social field: Lina Badenes, Eduardo Guillot, Angela Nzambi, Fran Ruvira, Laura Garcia Andreu, Ra\u00fal Riebenbauer, Eileen Truax, Javier Vilalta, Asaari Bibang, Rosana Pastor, Lucila Roal, Freddy Mas, D\u00e9borah Ekoka, Miquel Ramos, Elena Belenguer, Paloma Chen, Giovanna Ribes, Elena Escura, Juanjo Moscard\u00f3 and Ana Ram\u00f3n Rubio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>AN EDITION OF QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE GROWTH<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Humans Fest has screened more than 60 films and documentaries in its 13th edition, which was held from June 9 to 18. In addition, in these ten days, multiple activities have been held in which 30 diverse social entities have collaborated and a total of 55 activists have participated. Likewise, the festival has completed its program with an exhibition of photojournalism against hate speech, a work carried out by Ruido Photo and Revista 5W.
