To put an end to corruption, the existence of a firm political will on the part of the public powers is necessary to carry out measures to put an end to this burden. But civil society can also develop initiatives that lead to a reduction in corrupt activities and behavior. Fundación por la Justicia decided to promote an initiative called “Civil Society against Corruption”, through which all those people, entities, political parties, institutions, etc., who considered it appropriate, could adhere to a manifesto called “ Public commitment against corruption.”

The purpose of this working document was for the largest possible number of people and institutions to sign a State Pact against corruption on December 9, 2015, the date on which the International Day against Corruption is celebrated worldwide.

Throughout 2015, members and volunteers of Fundación por la Justicia prepared this document through 15 commissions appointed for this purpose, each directed by an expert coordinator. The working committees focused their efforts on specific subjects in such a way that all discussions, analyses, reflections, etc., had a common denominator that allowed them to delve deeper into the aspects to be studied by each group and prepared a complete report of the work carried out, in which included the measures proposed for each area, as well as the indicators that would allow the progress in the implementation of said measures to be observed in due course.

With the material provided by the different work commissions, a document of 150 measures was prepared, called “State Pact against corruption and for civic regeneration.” This Pact included the commitment of seven political parties with parliamentary representation at the state level, as well as the adhesion of more than fifty entities and numerous individuals from civil society to fight against corruption in our country. This agreement, in addition to proposing greater transparency, advocated, among other things, for an ethical regeneration in the management of public resources, for control systems that guarantee their correct use and greater professionalization and independence of the officials involved in the contractual contracts with the Public Sector. The State Pact against Corruption and for Civic Regeneration was presented to civil society on December 9, 2015 in the Auditorium of the University of Valencia.

La corrupción es una de las principales preocupaciones de nuestra sociedad.
