{"id":438,"date":"2022-01-28T18:57:44","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T18:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacionporlajusticia.accesia.info\/?p=438"},"modified":"2022-05-05T15:41:27","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T15:41:27","slug":"una-ventana-a-la-realidad-de-las-mujeres-transgenero-en-el-salvador","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundacionporlajusticia.org\/en\/una-ventana-a-la-realidad-de-las-mujeres-transgenero-en-el-salvador\/","title":{"rendered":"A Window on the reality of transgender women in El Salvador"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><strong>The main victims of the most violent crimes in El Salvador are trans women, whose life expectancy is 33 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Since 1994, more than 600 people from this community have been violently murdered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Of the more than 100 cases of murders reported against the LGTBIQ+ community since that year, only 11% has been brought to trial.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img class='size-full wp-image-5142 alignleft' src='https:\/\/fundacionporlajusticia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Ventana_mujeres_transgenero_El_Salvador.jpeg' alt='' width='551' height='446' \/>These are just some of the data collected by this study, which is part of the project <strong><em>Visibility and defense of Human Rights activists in the framework of protection of the rights of the LGTBIQ+ collective in El Salvador<\/em><\/strong>, financed by the Department of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation and Democratic Quality of the Generalitat Valenciana.<\/p>\n<p>Its main purpose is <strong>show an x-ray of the reality of trans women in El Salvador from a human rights approach<\/strong>, which reflects the situation of discrimination and violence exercised against this group, as well as their struggles and resistance against a system of strong heteropatriarchal construction, which reproduces inequality through sociocultural patterns, subordination and discrimination against women.<\/p>\n<p>Although El Salvador has ratified various international treaties that grant implicit and explicit protections to people belonging to the LGTBIQ+ community, a series of problems currently persist. <strong>obstacles aimed at restricting the legal capacity of trans women and limiting their ownership and access to civil rights<\/strong>, social, economic, political and cultural. This situation is aggravated by social prejudices and misconceptions about transsexuality that prevail in Salvadoran society.<\/p>\n<p>Foundation for Justice, an entity that has been working for the promotion and defense of human rights for more than 25 years, leaves a record <strong>in this report of the main findings in terms of discrimination and violation of rights, at the same time that it compiles, from a human dignity approach, murders and hate crimes <\/strong>which as of the date of writing this document remain unpunished.<\/p>\n<p>Is about <strong>an exercise not only to honor the
