Last night, the closing gala of this VI edition of the Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival was held at the CulturArts IVAC Film Library (Valencia).<\/p>\n

The President of the For Justice Foundation, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Tom\u00e1s T\u00edo, gave Ventura Durall<\/strong> the award of this VI edition of the FIC-Valencia, a symbolic bow tie designed by \u201cManitas de plata\u201d. The prize, worth 3,000 euros, was for his documentary \u201cThe wild years<\/strong>\u201d which tells the hard experience of 3 children in the capital of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

The winning short film of the \u201cOne minute, one right\u201d section went to the short film, \u201cPussy Riot<\/strong>" of Itziar Telletxea<\/strong> (student at the Escuela de Arte Superior y Dise\u00f1o de Valencia school), who could not be present at the closing gala but sent a message of gratitude and a request so that, together, we could contribute to the dissemination of this work on censorship .<\/p>\n

The Special Mention from the Jury<\/strong> It has been for the Moroccan documentary \u201c475: when marriage becomes a punishment<\/strong>" of Nadir Bouhmouch.\u00a0<\/strong>The Jury wanted to grant a special mention for their effort and work to the work carried out by the inmates of the Picassent Penitentiary Center<\/strong> called \u201cNo to racism and prejudice of ideas<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

The FIC-Valencia wanted to include in this closing the Valencian short film, \u201cA better place<\/strong>\u201d by Mois\u00e9s Romera and Marisa Crespo which, due to its duration, was not included in the rules of this edition, but which the Festival management considered that due to its interest it was worth being disseminated. The two directors and the leading actors received a gift for their meritorious work and results.<\/p>\n

The gala concluded with the screening of the award-winning documentary \u201cThe act of Killing\u201d by Joshua Oppenheimer and Christine Cynn.<\/p>\n

The Jury, chaired by Carles Bosch, was made up of Alejandro Ma\u00f1es, vice president of UNESCO Valencia, Giovanna Ribes, film director, Abdelatif Hwidar, actor, Toni Navarro, director of the Barcelona International Film Festival, Jose Antonio Hurtado, film critic and Mar\u00eda Escalona Ponce, General Coordinator of Amnesty International Valencia.<\/p>\n

We thank all the directors, jury members and volunteers who have selflessly collaborated with this non-profit Festival, whose purpose is to raise awareness among the population of the rights they have and the injustices that continue to be committed.<\/p>\n

We remind you that, despite the closure, the screenings of new animated short films and documentaries, for scheduling reasons, will continue at the Filmoteca until next Wednesday, November 5.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
