In recent days, the Senate of Paraguay approved a bill that establishes a model of oversight, transparency and accountability for all Non-Governmental Organizations in the country.<\/p>\n
This new measure represents a serious setback in the primacy of Human Rights and the country's association model, since it will generate a greater economic burden for all non-profit organizations, among other serious consequences. This action by the Government and the chambers of representatives explicitly reflects the notable political clientelism and lack of transparency in Paraguayan institutions.<\/p>\n
The country's analysts and experts have agreed that this is an unaffordable and unrealistic measure, since the Government does not have the human and material resources necessary to undertake this work.<\/p>\n
Despite this, this law has made clear the lack of a free and plural democratic model, as well as the discredit of human rights.
