P\u00e9rez Cuevas<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Norwegian production <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the River Flow<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Ole Gi\u00e6ver<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the Canadian <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The White Guard<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Julie Elien<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, films that address from different perspectives the struggle of the indigenous population to defend their community against the threat of large energy corporations, have been awarded the best feature film awards in the fiction and documentary categories, respectively, of the XV edition of the Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival, <\/span><b>Humans Fest<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, organized by Fundaci\u00f3n por la Justicia since 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The awards of the XV Humans Fest were announced this Saturday, June 8, in an event that took place at the MuVIM, where nearly 200 people from the cultural and social sphere gathered to accompany the awards ceremony, in a gala presented by the \u00c0 Punt journalist <\/span><b>Sara Garcia Lopez<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ABOUT THE WINNING WORKS IN FEATURE FILMS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Ole Gi\u00e6ver<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, film director, screenwriter and actor <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">saami <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Norway, relates in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the River Flow<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the fight of his people against the construction of a large dam in Alta and, at the same time, for their own recognition as a town in Norway in the 1970s. The jury, made up of the filmmakers <\/span><b>Elena Escura<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Tess Van Bommel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>Rafa Mol\u00e9s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has chosen <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let the River Flow<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cfor its solidity as an audiovisual story, based on a script that not only delves into the main theme but also branches out and delves into other themes, such as the concept of identity or roots.\u201d Furthermore, he has valued \u201cthe organic construction of a strong character, who experiences an inner journey about her roots and a profound transformation, a woman whom we follow throughout the film going through her emotions, well told and staged.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The jury of the Humans Fic section has also awarded a Special Mention to the Spanish production <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red rooster<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, feature-length fiction debut by the Valladolid filmmaker <\/span><b>Enrique Garc\u00eda-V\u00e1zquez<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cfor the freshness of the story and the originality that permeates the entire film.\u201d The jury was \u201cimpressed\u201d by \u201cthe naturalness of the actresses \u2013<\/span><b>Pablos Pine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>Lucia Lobato<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-, which we undoubtedly consider one of the strong points of the story&quot;, in addition to highlighting &quot;how it establishes a mosaic of micro-stories in the town, which genuinely capture the rural essence and the feeling of returning home.&quot; Enrique Garc\u00eda-V\u00e1zquez collected this award at the closing gala held this Saturday at the MuVIM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For its part, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The White Guard<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a title that refers to Mexican organized crime groups paid by mining companies to maintain control of the environment, explores the mutually beneficial relationship between large corporations, the government and the cartels that are taking down more and more activists. The jury has chosen the Canadian director&#039;s proposal <\/span><b>Julie Elien<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as Best Documentary Feature Film for \u201cthe relevance of the topic and its clear relationship with climate change, indicating some of the causes and very explicitly the environmental, economic and social consequences it has in countries where large corporations exploit natural resources.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, the jury made up of the filmmakers <\/span><b>Almudena Verdes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>Gabi Ochoa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the activist <\/span><b>Nuria Baeza<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, highlights \u201cthe diversity of voices and realities presented provides a complete and enriching vision,\u201d in addition to \u201cin its cinematographic aspects we discover a broad and diverse landscape, getting to know through images places virgin to our eyes,\u201d discovering \u201cin images and sounds a unique shape and a clear look.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The White Guard has premiered for the first time in Spain thanks to the Humans Fest and from today until Sunday the 16th it can be seen in the festival&#039;s online programming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>OFFICIAL SHORT FILM SECTION<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The award for Best Fiction Short Film has gone to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Global Riscaldamento<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Italian production directed by <\/span><b>Manuel Vitali<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for \u201cits poetic narrative, its beauty in the cinematographic look, its visual creativity, its elegance without artifice and its ability to transmit emotions and sensations that go beyond the screen and directly affect the viewer,\u201d according to the section&#039;s jury, which has been made up of the actress <\/span><b>Maite Gil<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the filmmaker <\/span><b>Navarro Sea<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the activist <\/span><b>Miguel Crespo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This jury has also valued \u201cthe way it treats the drama of climate change with that skill and that sense of acid humor, which introduces us even further, if possible, into reality, and for the excellent fusion of music and sound.\u201d .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This jury has decided to award a special mention in this competitive category to the short <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lion Dreams<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Jordi L\u00f3pez Navarro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cfor the wonderful story of survival, which borders on magical realism, and for its impeccable technique and photography, make this film deserve a special mention.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Puyuelo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was the Best Documentary Short Film, an award that was collected at the closing gala by its director, <\/span><b>Sara Sarrablo Asensio<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The jury, made up of the filmmakers <\/span><b>Carlos Laullon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>Pepa Sastre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the activist\u00a0 <\/span><b>Marc Ferri<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He has chosen it for &quot;the simplicity and humanity with which it deals with the problem of depopulation in the Pyrenees, contrasting the visions of the old neighbors against the new settlers.&quot; Furthermore, it has decided to grant a Special Mention to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where Children Don&#039;t Dream<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><b>Stefano Sbrulli<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Peru\/Italy), \u201cfor the way in which this heartbreaking story presents such a hard topic as contamination by heavy metals and its impact on childhood.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>RECOGNITIONS IN VALENCIAN KEY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Official Section of Humans Fest includes two awards for Valencian creations. Thus, the award for Best Valencian Short Film has been awarded to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Passing Teruel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Manuel Omonte<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cfor its technical quality, interest in the content and staging, connection with human rights, current relevance and emotional impact on viewing,\u201d in the words of the jury formed by the filmmakers <\/span><b>Coke Arijo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Claudia Estrada<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Iv\u00e1n Fern\u00e1ndez de C\u00f3rdoba<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>Honorato Ruiz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which has also decided to give a mention to the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">13<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Mariam Zelaia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for its portrait of \u201cthe current reality of sexuality in adolescence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For its part, the EDAV award for Best Valencian Short Film Script went to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trolley<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Luis E. P\u00e9rez Cuevas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for a structure and a script that work perfectly to create a story that tells the complicated situation that single mothers or single-parent families face when faced with the complicated transition to adolescence in a time when screens, social networks and the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">likes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &quot;They seem to be above the precarious situation of the family environment.&quot;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THE RECOGNITION OF THE YOUNGEST TALENT<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Humans Fest has a historical section within its official competition: <\/span><b><i>1 minute, 1 right<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, whose objective is to promote cinema as a tool for defending human rights among Valencian students. This year it has been possible thanks to the participation of students from Comenius Center Educatiu, IES Number 1 of Requena, the Degree in Audiovisual Communication of the Campus of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia in Gandia and the CEIP Angelina Carnicer. Among the 24 works presented, through public voting, the winner was <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zarwa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, made by students of the <\/span><b>CEIP Angelina Carnicer from Valencia.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THE MOST ACCESSIBLE AND PARTICIPATORY EDITION OF HUMANS FEST<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Humans Fest celebrated its 15th edition from May 30 to June 8. During these days they have been projected <\/span><b>more than 40 movies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fiction and documentaries from four continents to show citizens how to fight against <\/span><b>climate change<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from different parts of the world, as well as multiple initiatives in <\/span><b>defense of territory<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the local to the international level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the big news this year has been the launch of <\/span><b>Humans Media<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.humansmedia.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.humansmedia.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), a platform of its own <\/span><b>cinema on demand<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which allows us to expand the scope of the festival, making it accessible online for people who cannot attend and for all of Spain. A selection of the films participating in the Official Section of the 15th edition of Humans Fest, two other documentaries screened out of competition and the winner of the last edition, the Mexican documentary <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kenya<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will be available until June 16 with a one-time subscription of 5 euros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, thanks to a collaboration agreement between Fundaci\u00f3n por la Justicia and Fundaci\u00f3n <\/span><b>ELEVEN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, three days of cinema have been held with <\/span><b>audio description<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so that people with visual disabilities have been able to enjoy them, and four activities have had the presence of a sign language interpreter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Added to all this are multiple activities in which they have collaborated until <\/span><b>80 activists<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from <\/span><b>more than 30 entities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> different. This has been the case of, for example, the so-called <\/span><b><i>Vermouths Humans<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a relaxed discussion to reflect with protagonists of different struggles for human rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the screenings, meetings and talks, the public will be able to visit the Tabacalera Building (C\/ Amadeo de Saboya, 11) for free until June 16. <\/span><b>photo exhibition <\/b><b><i>African activism against climate change<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an exhibition about first-person stories of activists and the environmental impact that changes the view usually given by the East African media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the third consecutive year, the cinema has been taken to the streets of the city for free with the <\/span><b>\u201cfresh\u201d sessions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the courtyard of the Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de los Desamparados School, in the Nazaret neighborhood; in the Plaza Jard\u00edn de la Ermita, in the Orriols neighborhood and, for the first time, in the Garden of the Mayor&#039;s Office of El Saler.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, together with La Filmoteca IVC, the <\/span><b>cycle <\/b><b><i>Against invasions, peace and justice<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, screening three Palestinian films with the presence of the Palestinian actor Ramzi Maqdisi and the activist Rawaa Abu Abdou, also Palestinian. Thus, like the Oscar-winning documentary in March, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20 days in Mariupol<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a screening that had a large representation of the Ukrainian community in Valencia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Humans Fest is part of the international Human Rights Film Network. Its 15th edition is celebrated thanks to the collaboration of the Second Vice Presidency and Department of Social Services, Equality and Housing, Diputaci\u00f3 de Val\u00e8ncia, Ajuntament de Val\u00e8ncia, Institut Valenci\u00e0 de Cultura, Caixa Popular and Teika.
